How you can be screened for a specific learning difference. We are only able to put support into place for students who have a formal diagnosis of a Specific Learning Difference (SpLD) with appropriate supporting evidence. If you think that you may have a SpLD such as Dyslexia or Dyspraxia, but have not yet been diagnosed, contact the Student Disability Service to arrange a screening appointment. The results of a screening may lead to a referral for full assessment with an Educational Psychologist. Due to the high demand for appointments during the first few weeks of semester, we only offer a small number of screening appointments from 1 September until the 7 October. Screenings during this period are managed via a chronological waiting list. In addition, we do not carry out screenings or assessments for those students who are in the final semester of the final year of their programme of study. We also do not offer screenings or assessments for those students who are only studying at the University of Edinburgh for a single semester.
