Information about the support available to postgraduate research students from the Service. As a PGR student, much of your work will be independent and self-directed. However, the Disability and Learning Support Service (DLSS) can still offer you support in relation to your studies. Schedule of Adjustments Available adjustments may include provision of suitable work space, tasks being broken down into smaller chunks, if requested, or provision of additional dissertation/thesis supervisory sessions with clear target setting. If you received support during previous studies at the University, this will not automatically be carried over. 1:1 Specialist Support We can engage professional staff to work with you on a 1:1 basis delivering specialised types of support such as Library Assistance, Specific Learning Differences Tuition, Mental Health or Autism Mentoring or Proofreading. You can find more information about the support here. Provision of Assistive Technology We can ensure that you are provided with the assistive equipment, software and technology that you need in order to be able to carry out your research effectively. This may include ergonomic equipment or furniture, assistive applications or equipment such as digital voice recorders. DLSS staff can also liaise directly with you and your Supervisor(s) to discuss any additional support needs that you may have in relation to your research. You may find it helpful to read the Code of Practice for Supervisors and Research Students. If you wish to discuss your support needs with a member of our team you can register with the service, submit a query or request an appointment. This article was published on 2024-07-22
