Autism transition event

The Service will host an online transition event in August for prospective autistic students.

If you are intending to study at the University and either have a formal diagnosis of autism, have an assessment referral letter or self-identify as autistic, we are offering an online transition event to prospective students this summer.

We understand that the transition to University can be difficult, so our transition event hopes to address any questions or concerns that you may have.

The event will be held online on Thursday, 20 August 2026, 10.00am to 3.30pm and is also open to supporters/parents/carers of new students to attend.

We will talk about a variety of subjects:

  • An introduction to our service - Disability and Learning Support Service
  • What you need to know as a new student
  • Gaining an insight into University life
  • Finding out more about the support services at the University
  • Finding out about local autism groups and services
  • Talks from a variety of staff, students and representatives from within the University
  • ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions with autistic staff and students
  • Gaining study skill tips
  • Hear from students about their experience and the impacts of an autism diagnosis
  • Joining societies, meeting other new students and making friends
